Lucan Update
A quick update on a few important local issues, including plans for Lucan House, the swimming pool, ongoing works in the village and surrounds and the future of Lucan Village Health Centre.
Have Your Say on Lucan House
Public consultation is now open on the future of Lucan House, and it's a great opportunity to help shape the plans for this historic site. Right now, you can take part in an online survey being run by SDCC. Take the survey here: emerhiggins.ie/forms. A series of in-person events will also be held in February and March and if you are interested in attending an in-person consultation, please email

Lucan Pool Update
After long delays, a new agreement has been reached with the main contractor to get the remaining work done. Extra resources have been assigned to speed things up, and a full review is underway. Once that's complete in the coming days, we should get an updated timeline. I know how frustrating it is that there's still no confirmed opening date and I'll keep the pressure on for the delivery of this much needed and long awaited public amenity.
Lucan Village & Surrounds - Works Update
Works on the Village Green, Promenade, and Demesne Park entrance are well underway, with completion expected by September 2025.
Village Green: The amphitheatre construction is underway and ESB underground works will begin. soon, with some traffic management in place.
Demesne Park: The new car park is open, and site clearance at the former car park has started.
Promenade: The new staircase is being built, and Liffey Bridge restoration is scheduled for summer.
Lucan House Wall: Repairs are done, barriers removed, and a new footpath has been installed.
Lucan Village Health Centre Update
I know a lot of people have been asking about Lucan Village Health Centre, and I'm happy to confirm that the HSE has assured me it will continue to operate, even after the new Adamstown Primary Care Centre opens. This is really positive news for those who rely on its services, and I'll keep working to ensure healthcare access in Lucan keeps up with the growing community.
